The Basic Package includes fifteen sessions one hour long each on Zoom; the ceremony; planning time with the family; travel to location; Rabbi’s accommodations; and an optional closure and appreciations meeting on Zoom once you returned home.

Lessons itinerary:

The first couple of sessions will be spent on engagement and relationship building. Once the Rabbi establishes rapport with your child and learns about his/her interests and temperament, the learning will continue on two parallel tracks. One, learning how to chant the ceremony Torah portion and blessings. The child will also engage with the content of his/her Torah portion and compose a speech (Derahsa) reflecting its meaning and its relevance for us today. Two, Rabbi Modek will encourage your child to pursue his/her natural curiosity through Q&A and open discussion of Jewish identity, history and values.

This Hebrew Scholar Package is designed for the child and family that love the Hebrew language and desire an expansive introduction to general Jewish and Israeli history and customs. It includes thirty sessions (seven months), one hour long each, on Zoom; ceremony; planning time with the family; Rabbi’s accommodations; and an optional closure & appreciations meeting on Zoom once you return home. A travel fee will be added based on travel distance to the ceremony location in Israel.

Rabbi Modek’s Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah ceremony is rich in substance, meaning and inspiration making this precious moment in your child and family’s life extraordinary. However, the musical ad-ons, a cantor and perhaps a second musician, add another dimension entirely to the event. It is optional, though, we recommend it especially when your guest list includes 25 or more participants.

While a Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah ceremony can be held at a variety of historical and religious sites around Israel, i.e. the Western Wall or Masada, some families find it especially meaningful to hold the ceremony at an established Israeli synagogue. We would be happy to arrange that for you at the town or city of your preference.
